Jennifer LaCorte, MA MFT

Jennifer received her masters in clinical psychology from Antioch University with a child studies concentration in 2003. She trained at the Eating Disorder Center of California, under the leadership of international EDO specialist Carolyn Costin, where she worked as a primary therapist and case manager. She began her private practice in 2005, where she sees many adolescents, young adults and families. Jennifer has also completed a one year course at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies in Los Angeles. Having a background in theater and entertainment, and bachelors degree in fine arts from NYU, Jennifer likes to use psychodrama and other techniques to help recreate one’s story. Specifically, she believes externalizing ‘the problem’ from oneself creates space and distance between the person and ‘the problem’. This allows room for needed self-discovery, objectivity, and the deepening of relationship with oneself and others.

Having recovered herself, Jennifer also shares her personal and professional expertise as a consultant and group therapist for a prominent Los Angeles adolescent treatment center for chemical dependency, where she has worked for over 8 years. She is passionate about working with teens and their families in recovery.

Jennifer has led discussions with students, schools and other professionals about Eating Disorders and is a seasoned speaker on media awareness. She brings a sociocultural lens to the work, exploring how one’s culture may affect the view of oneself.

She is a member of NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) and CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists).
